Proposed improvement of coastal habitat resilience: The case study of Pantano forest of Policoro in southern Italy

In the last decades, climate change and rapid urbanization due to development of coastal economy have led biodiversity loss fragmentation habitat in many zones. The presence protected areas cannot prevent progress land degradation. However, these are very important because they provide significant ecosystem services affect local tourism. With regard increasing adaptation strategies human pressures change, present study proposes a detailed monitoring activity an ecological restoration plan which could improve resilience zone Pantano forest Policoro, located on Ionian coast (southern Italy). this area, continuous phenomena intensive deforestation, hydraulic reclamation actions, fires reduced native species particular naturalistic value, favouring advancement desertification, erosion, saltwater intrusion. proposed actions derived from preliminary analysis maps, UAV-images, data meetings with community. operative process article be applied other subjected same problems.
